Mr. W. W. Allen

Mr. Wayne Allen is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The success story associated with Mr. Allen's record of achievement, leadership, and service exemplifies the American dream. His long-range vision, motivation, and optimistic focus are characteristics of the professional philosophy that he shares with others. He is a highly skilled professional who began planning and preparing his dream of becoming an engineer while in high school in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1959 and later his Master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, both from Oklahoma State University.
Following graduation and service as a captain the U.S. Army Artillery, he joined Phillips Petroleum Company in 1961 as an engineer, holding positions in Oklahoma and Texas before moving to the corporate headquarters in 1964 to work with studies of international drilling and production operations. He was named Director of Drilling and Production for the Europe-Africa Division in 1980 and was the Operations Manager of the Ivory Coast region from 1981 to 1984. During that time he was honored by the Ivory Coast government with the Order of the Cote d'Ivoire for his leadership in developing an offshore oil field. He served as Manager of the United Kingdom region in London and then as General Manager of the Western Division and Vice President of International Exploration and Production in 1988. The next year he was elected to the Board of Directors, was named President and Chief Operating Officer in 1992, and has been serving as Chairman and CEO since 1994.
Mr. Allen's civic and humanitarian activities are far-reaching, with his special philanthropic efforts touching many lives. He serves on the National Board of Governors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and is chairman of their Southwestern Region. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the United States Council for International Business and The Conference Board. He is a registered professional engineer and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the National Petroleum Institute, where he serves on the Public Policy Committee. He is a member of The Business Roundtable, an executive committee member of the Oklahoma Business Roundtable, and serves on the Oklahoma State University Foundation Board of Governors and Board of Trustees, where he has assumed the chairmanship for the Foundation's first major comprehensive campaign. He is a member and past chairman of the OSU College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology Associates and was inducted into the CEAT Hall of Fame in 1992 and into the OSU Alumni Association Hall of Fame in 1993.
Allen and his wife, Judith, are the parents of two sons, David and Robert. Through his many noted accomplishments, tireless efforts, and commitment to educational, social, and humanitarian concerns, Mr. Wayne Allen has brought great prestige and honor to himself, to his family, and to Oklahoma State University.
