Mr. James R. Bellatti

Mr. James R. Bellatti has achieved great honor and distinction as a civic and business leader, as a distinguished professional in the media field, and as a major contributor to numerous humanitarian and charitable causes. His notable professional accomplishments include more than three decades of service as publisher and editor of the Stillwater NewsPress, beginning in 1961. He earlier served for ten years as general manager of radio stations KSPI and KSPI-FM and is a past president of both the Oklahoma Broadcasters Association and the Oklahoma Press Association. Among his professional recognition, Mr. Bellatti was named to the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame and was honored with the Oklahoma Press Association's H. Milt Phillips Award.

Mr. Bellatti's civic and humanitarian activities are numerous and range from local to international in scope. Active in YMCA programs, he served with distinction as president of the World Alliance of YMCAs and the National Council of the YMCA. A past chairman of the International Division of the YMCA, Mr. Bellatti also is a past president, capital campaign chairman, and current board member for the Stillwater Family YMCA.

Active in various church-related programs, Mr. Bellatti chairs the endowment committee of Stillwater Fist Presbyterian Church and the Cameroon Presbytery Committee on Ministry and Preparation. He also serves as president of the Synod of the Sun Foundation and trustee of the Presbyterian Church Foundation, Presbyterian Church of the USA.

A past president and board member of the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Bellatti also is actively involved in the Masons, Shrines, Lions, American Legion, Sigma Delta Chi, and Sons of the American Revolution. He has been honored frequently for outstanding community service and achievement, receiving the junior Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award, the Exchange Club's "Book of Golden Deeds" award, the demote Cross of Honor, and D.A.R. Medal of Honor. Mr. Bellatti also was inducted to the prestigious Oklahoma Heritage Association Hall of Fame in 1989.

Mr. Bellatti attended the OSU College of Business Administration. His distinguished service to OSU has included membership on the Centennial Advisory Commission and the OSU Alumni Association Board of Directors. Earlier, Mr. Bellatti chaired a capital campaign for the OSU School of Journalism and Broadcasting, and he currently chairs the Friends of Old Central. A Life member of the OSU Alumni Association, he also was honored with its Distinguished Alumni Award.
