Charles Watson

Mr. Chuck Watson is the Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Houston-based Dynegy Inc., a global leader of energy and communications solutions. His extraordinary record of business achievements, leadership, and service is well known and respected throughout his professional and personal associations.

Mr. Watson began his career in the energy industry with Conoco, Inc. in 1972, and since founding Natural Gas Clearinghouse, Dynegy's predecessor, in 1985, he has built the company into one of the nation's premier energy merchants providing innovative solutions to customers in North America, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. He is highly respected for his professional vision and expertise, as reflected through his numerous innovative business activities. In 2001, he was named Master Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young and inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame. He participates as a member of the National Petroleum Council, the Governor's Business Council and on the board of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, and Baker Hughes Inc. He is also a founding member of the Natural Gas Council and serves on the executive committee of the Edison Electric Institute and the Board of Trustees for the Baylor College of Medicine.

As the principal owner and Chairman of the Houston Aeros Hockey Team, Mr. Watson is a leader in the development and acquisition of professional sports for Houston. He is the Vice Chairman and minority owner of the Houston Texans NFL franchise and citywide chairman of the 2004 Houston Super Bowl Committee. He is a board member of Theater Under the Stars, Houston 2012 Foundation, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, and the Greater Houston Partnership. He recently served as chairman for both the Alexis de Tocqueville Society Campaigns for the United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast and for Houston's citywide United Way fundraising campaign. He has served as chairman, trustee and governor of the OSU Foundation and has been inducted into OSU's College of Business and Alumni Association Halls of Fame.

He and his wife, Kim, are graduates of Oklahoma State University and lifetime partners with a shared devotion for activities that benefit the lives of others. To honor her numerous commitments to the community and highlight the many outstanding ways in which she has represented her alma mater, Kim was recently inducted into the OSU College of Education Hall of Fame. In addition, they have been recognized for their lifetime achievements in community service by both the Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Family Service Center, and named "Family of the Year" in 1998 by the Child Advocates of Houston. They have been personally involved in developing scholarship, professorship, and other educational initiatives at their alma mater, provide the Dynegy Trading Floor and the Watson Family Chair in the Department of Finance.

Through his many accomplishments as a dynamic leader in global business and his personal dedication to educational, social, and humanitarian concerns, Mr. Chuck Watson has brought great honor and distinction to himself, his family, his alma mater, and his nation.
