History Pin Internship

The University Archives seeks a tech-savy student with an interest in photography and OSU history to serve as the HISTORYPIN INTERN. The successful candidate will work with archival photo collections and build themed virtual tours representing campus during different historical periods.

The HISTORYPIN INTERN will work approximately 12 hours per week during the fall semester. Hours will be scheduled Monday-Friday between 8 am and 5 pm.

Employment as an intern is on a semester by semester basis. Continued employment is contingent upon funding and performance. This internship is not eligible for course credit at this time

Salary:

$11.50/hour

Responsibilities:

The HistoryPin Interns built the Library's HistoryPin presence from the ground up, including multiple virtual tours of campus through the ages.

This intern will be responsible for creating and maintaining content for SCUA’s HistoryPin account. The intern will, with the assistance of SCUA staff, select photographs from the OSU Photograph Collection, place watermarks on the images, convert them to an appropriate dpi, and upload them to HistoryPin. Once the images are uploaded, the intern will also create and upload appropriate metadata.

The intern will also create collections and tours in HistoryPin to provide users with a campus tour that will depict campus as it evolved over time. If the campus collection/tour is completed before the end of the semester, the intern may upload more images and create tours as discussed with SCUA staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • An OSU student enrolled at least part-time (6 hours undergraduate/ 4 hours graduate).
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Adobe PhotoShop and ability to work on PC

Desired Qualifications:

  • Keen interest in the photography and/or history of OSU
