- ABI World -- Bankruptcy information, including news/headlines, legislative information, statistics, and a bankruptcy library. "ABI World is the premier site on the Internet for bankruptcy statistics, information and research for both the insolvency professional and the general public, as well as a resource for the media."
- Action Without Borders -- AA site run by a non-profit foundation which has a searchable directory of 10,000 Web sites of non-profit organizations, information on volunteering, jobs,
projects and some tools for non-profits on subjects like fundraising, financial management, personnel, public relations, legal issues.
- American Stock Exchange (AMEX) -- The AMEX site provides market summaries and news for over 800 companies world-wide. Also provides the 'Information Exchange' which aims to provide insight into business issues.
- ATM
Locator (VISA) -- Searchable database that will
help you find an Automatic Teller Machine in any city in the United States,
and even give you a map!
- AuditNet -- "Internet
Resources for Auditors, Accountants and Financial Professionals. Sections
include Kaplan's AuditNet Resource List (KARL) with more than 300 Internet
resources for auditors, accountants and financial professionals, Auditors
Sharing Audit Programs Network (ASAPNet) with over 100 audit programs
for auditors and accountants, FraudNet with links to fraud and ethics
policies for auditors, AuditNet Email Directory listing over 600 email
addresses for auditors, AuditZine providing articles on the topics of
Internet for auditors and accountants, and AuditSearch which provides
links to search tools for auditors."
- Canadian Public Company Web Sites -- "Enter a stock symbol or company name of any Canadian company, and this site will generate a page of links to stock quotes, press releases, company web sites, and other company information from reliable sources. All 4600 companies listed on the TSE, ASE, VSE, ME, and CDN are listed."
- Federal Reserve
Board -- This is the Web site for the Federal Reserve Board
(the Fed), which governs the twelve Federal reserve banking districts.
This site includes links to all the federal reserve banks and other
related federal agencies. Most helpful are the current interest rate
statistics, some of which are released almost daily, others monthly
or quarterly. They include bank prime rates, foreign exchange rates,
U.S. government securities rates, conventional mortgage rates. Historical
figures for these items are not presented at this site.
- The Foundation Center -- The Foundation Center is a non-profit organization devoted to serving the information needs of grantmakers and grantseekers. They publish an extensive list
of books and provide libraries and training sessions related to the non-profit sector. The Website's Reference Desk has a FAQ page organized by topic, a long list of annotated links for finding online sites related to non-profits, and an online reference librarian who takes questions by e-mail. There are also some informational materials online such as a "A Proposal Writing Short Course."
- FreeEDGAR -- Free online access to SEC filings. Searchable by company name or SIC code. Reports can be viewed online or turned into downloadable Excel spreadsheets. Also includes "in-depth financial analysis based on FreeEDGAR financial data" and "basic information on finance and investing."
- Impact Online -- Impact Online is a non-profit organization whose mission is "to facilitate and increase community involvement via the internet. [They] seek to collaborate with and complement existing organizations and build community resources to get more people involved." The site lists volunteer opportunities available through Volunteer America, allows you to search for non-profits in your local area and has a section about the "why and how" of volunteering.
- Internet NonProfit Center -- This is a project of the American Institute of Philanthropy. The goal of the I.N.C. is to provide info about nonprofits free of charge. Information includes listings of agencies by name, purpose and, geographic location. One of the most useful sections is financial data on nonprofits from selected states (i.e. public contributions, expenses, total income, etc.) They also list the state charity registration offices for each state.
- National Credit Union Administration -- This is the web site for the National Credit Union Administration, the agency which insures and supervises over 7,000 federal and 4,000 state credit unions, much in the same way the FDIC oversees commercial banks. This site has information about using credit unions, how they work, and you can find any reports filed by any credit union in the country for the last two years.
- Wachowicz's Web World: Web Sites for Discerning Finance Students -- Large list of links of interest to finance students assembled by Professor John M. Wachowicz, Jr. The links are divided into 8 categories -- introduction to financial management, valuation, tools of financial analysis and planning, working capital management, investment in capital assets, the costs of capital, intermediate and long term financing, and special areas of financial management. Most of the links have brief annotations describing their content.
- The World Bank Group -- "The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, known as the World Bank, makes loans to developing countries that have a minimum level of creditworthiness. The World Bank raises most of its money on the world's financial markets. The interest rate charged on its loans is now just under 7 percent, and the maturity period is 15 to 20 years. Over its 50+-year history, the World Bank has lent some $277 billion to developing countries and economic institutions." In 1996 the World Bank began a special program to strengthen its partnerships with the private sector. Many links to other international financing organizations, including the International Monetary Fund, Inter-American Development Bank, Asian Development Bank and International Finance Corporation.
- Yahoo! Quotes -- Stock quotes (delayed 20 minutes) and other financial information and news from Reuter's New Media.
