  • Academic Info: Sociology -- Part of the Academic Info gateway of sites. This independent directory is compiled by Mike Madin. The Sociology page includes links to indexes and directories, the reference desk, the digital library, data archives and centers, Emile Durkheim, new religious movements, organizations and centers, and related subjects such as government publications, anthropology, and economics.
  • Data on the Net -- Lists about 850 Internet sites for numeric social statistical data, data archives, searchable catalogs of data, and vendors, distributors of data, and social science gateways. Maintained at the University of California, San Diego.
  • The Dead Sociologists' Society -- Site created by Larry R. Ridener, most recently hosted at George Mason University. This site provides information on major social scientists and sociological theory. See especially the Dead Sociologists' Index, with its extensive links to information about leading theorists.
  • Internet Public Library: Sociology Resources -- In addition to links to associations and serials, the Internet Public Library features other general social science sites.
  • Social Science Hub: Sociology -- Maintained by Sharyn Clarkson, Canberra, Australia. Provides links to sites in a variety of categories, including data archives, news, research methods, social policy, and statistics. Sites linked under the General category include beauty culture, urban sociology, social change, and the Sociology Dictionary.
  • Social Science Information Gateway (SOSIG) -- A major British resource for information on sociology. SOSIG includes links to many research papers, area studies pages and reports, bibliographic resources, and a wealth of other information categories. They include: Communication, Community research, Culture, Education, Regional and country studies, Schools and theories, Social change, Social movements, Sociology of adolescence, and many others.
  • Social Sciences Virtual Library Table of Contents -- Sites with links on this page have been "inspected and evaluated for their adequacy as information sources"
  • A Sociological Tour Through Cyberspace -- Maintained by Dr. Michael C. Kearl at Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas. Offers sites intended to "stimulate the sociological imagination". Includes numerous links to sites by general categories: including general resources, death and dying, social psychology, marriage and family life, sociological theory, data resources, methods and statistics, writing research papers, subject-based inquiries, gender and society, the Sociology Web ring, and so on. The site's search engine was updated and improved in 2000.
  • A Sociology Timeline from 1600 -- Maintained by Ed Stephan at Western Washington University. This timeline provides a framework for persons and developments from the days of the ancestors of social sciences to the 1990s. A related part of the site is the Sociology Calendar, listing dates in the history of sociology by month and date.
  • WWW Virtual Library: Sociology Resources -- Maintained by Carl Cuneo at McMaster University, this site offers both course descriptions/resources and curriculum resources from cultural studies to class and social stratification.
