1. Download the file and save it to your Desktop.
2. Uninstall any previous versions of EndNote and delete any C:\Program Files\EndNote folders.
3. Double-click on the .EXE file on your Desktop. Click the Extract button on the extraction window that appears. When all of the files are extracted, the buttons will become active again. Click the Cancel button to close the window.
4. Open "My Computer" and navigate to C:\EndNoteX1 Extraction Folder. Double-click ENX1INST.MSI and follow the prompts to install the program.
5. Follow the prompts to install the program.
6. Click Finish to end the installation process.
7. In "My Computer" or Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\EndNote X1 and delete the "Connections," "Filters," and "Styles" folders you find there.
8. Navigate to C:\EndNoteX1 Extraction Folder and copy the "Connections," "Filters," and "Styles" folders.
9. Navigate to C:\Program Files\EndNote X1 and paste the folders from C:\EndNoteX1 Extraction Folder in C:\Program Files\EndNote X1.
