Student Research Center
EBSCO's Student Research Center contains general information on a variety of topics (business, current events, math, technology, etc.) from a variety of sources (newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias, primary source documents and more). For the more advanced student searcher (middle - high school). (Watch tutorial)

 

SIRS Discoverer
SIRS Discoverer database helps students in grades 1-9 develop their research, writing, language, and computer skills. The database includes full-text articles and images from more than 1,900 domestic and international newspapers, magazines, and government documents, along with 9,000+ educational weblinks via the integrated Discoverer WebFind content set. More than 29,000 graphics, photos, maps, and charts are available, as well as a pull-out map collection that includes 3,000+ offerings, including all 50 United States, the provinces and territories of Canada, as well as nations and regions of the world (Europe, Persian Gulf, Czech Republic, the Baltics, and Time Zones of the World.) U.S. historical, world historical, and outline maps are also available.

Discoverer also offers supplemental curriculum and learning materials, including an educator's guide, middle- and elementary-level student workbooks, citation guidelines, research strategy worksheets, and more. Be sure to check out the Educator's Resources.
 

eLibrary
Students find the answers they need from more than 2,500 full-text magazines, newspapers, books, and transcripts--plus thousands of maps, pictures, educator-approved websites from Homework Central®, and top-quality multimedia (audio/video) files. The one-of-a-kind BookCart functionality allows educators to build persistent links to pre-selected content, creating reading lists, subject and topic pages, standards-linked lessons and activities, community interest pages, and even pre- or post-assessments.

Kid Search
Kids Search is designed especially for youth in grades K-8. Kids Search makes it easy for students to search by keyword or by topic to find the most useful search results. Results can be easily sorted by source type - -magazines, reference books, photos, flags, etc.

Searchasaurus
Searchasaurus is an exciting and easy way for young researchers to experience online searching. It is an animated interface with a dinosaur theme that encourages students to enhance and develop basic search methodologies. Students will be riveted by the colorful, animated interface, complete with erupting volcanoes and a dinosaur guide, as they gather information on a wide range of topics. Searchasaurus offers Lexile limiters (reading level), making it easy for students to read and research only appropriately challenging materials.

 

Fiction Connection
Discover titles similar to books you already enjoy with Bowker’s Fiction Connection™ and its award-winning interface. Now, recommending titles is as easy as typing in an author, title, subject, or ISBN. Fiction Connection will then display a recommended reading list of books that have similar characteristics to the topic originally selected. Never a dead end – every topic displayed has a suggested title. Additional features include the ability to link to our holdings for availability information and printing and e-mail capabilities.

Capstone Interactive Library
Capstone's Interactive Library e-books are just the ticket for emergent, struggling, and reluctant readers. Perfect to help emergent readers follow along as the text is read aloud, great for English Language Learner (ELL) students to boost literacy in English and Spanish, and perfect for reluctant readers to engage them in reading.

Britannica Online Academic Edition               
Britannica Online Academic Edition includes content such as 75,000 Articles from Encyclopaedia Britannica, 700+ Full-Text Magazine Articles from EBSCO and ProQuest, over 23,000 Biographies, World Data Analyst Online, Gateway to the Classics, and our collection of Notable Quotations. 
       
Britannica Online School Edition                
School Edition includes integrated searching of over 98,000 Articles, over 27,000 Graphics and 3,300 Animations.  This unique database also offers student-friendly website recommendations, current magazine and journal articles, the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate and Student Dictionaries and Thesauri (with audio pronunciations), a world atlas, plus high-quality online Learning Materials, with over 65 Interactive Guides that are developed by teachers and curriculum experts.
           
Britannica Online Public Library Edition           
Britannica Online Public Library Edition contains 4 full encyclopedias, the Encyclopædia Britannica, Compton’s by Britannica, Britannica Elementary Encyclopedia, and Britannica Concise Encyclopedia each covering the research needs of a different age group. Along with this encyclopedia content, Public Library Edition contains over 700 Full-Text Magazine Articles, Web sites that have been reviewed and verified by Britannica editors, a homework help section for students, a world atlas, Merriam-Webster dictionaries and thesauri for children and adults, a Spanish-English dictionary, video and audio content, daily content updates, and more.
World Data Analyst Online:            
This powerful database of current and historical statistics on 217 countries of the world makes historical and cross-national comparisons easy. Plus, the Analyst Tool allows users to create tables, charts, and even export information to a spreadsheet for further data analysis.  World Data Analyst provides Country Snaphots, Country Comparisons and Ranked Statistics.  Users can also link to country articles from the Britannica Concise Encyclopedia. Students will be able to find answers to the most detailed questions, such as:  What countries have the longest life expectancy?  Who uses the most electricity?  Which country has the largest national park?
 
Britannica Learning Zone              
Learning Zone is a classroom-tested, curriculum-related PK-2 Interactive Learning Environment.  Play, discover, create – these are the cornerstones of learning for young children.  This complete Online Solution for Early-Childhood Learning includes an interactive atlas, online art activities, interactive games and learning materials, audio & video and vocabulary builders.  The Zone teaches concepts in the areas of geography, numbers, time, sounds and more.

Books in Print-- Children's Room

Children's Literature Comprehensive Database
The CLCD contains annotations, reviews, curriculum tools, and awards, honors, and reading lists for thousands of children's books. Overall, the database contains 200,000+ critical reviews of children’s literature, ranging from baby board books to novels and nonfiction for young adults. About 1,500 new reviews are added to the database monthly.
 

Kraus Curriculum Development Database
The Kraus Curriculum Development Library (KCDL) is a searchable database of curricula, frameworks, and standards that brings together educational objectives, content, instructional strategies, and evaluative techniques for all subjects covered in PreK-12 and Adult Basic Education.
