Sharon Saulmon worked as a children’s librarian, outreach coordinator, programmer and administrator at the Metropolitan Library System (MLS) of Oklahoma County. She later became a library trustee for MLS, chairing the Library Commission, defending Intellectual Freedom principles and promoting quality services. As a reference librarian, head librarian and director, Learning Resources Center (LRC) at Rose State College for over twenty-six years, Saulmon works to improve customer service quality at the community college and LRC marketing. Saulmon teaches several library technical assistant courses offered by the college via (then) talkback television and (now) online, providing training for potential and current library staff members.

Saulmon served as President of the Oklahoma Library Association with the theme “Navigating the Information Future,” stressing growing new librarians. A committee was formed, which later became a standing OLA committee, Career Recruitment and Retention, on which she continues to be active. She is also active in the national Association for Library Trustees and Advocates, having served in many capacities including President and newsletter editor. She was chair of the Oklahoma Council of Academic Library Directors, a State Regents of Higher Education council. She is also an Amigos Library Services board member.
