Reference questions submitted via this form will be answered by an OSU subject specialist librarian.

Email reference assistance is intended for OSU students, faculty, and staff. If you are not affiliated with OSU, we can respond only to questions about the unique collections and resources of the OSU Libraries.

Guidelines For Use of This Form (a.k.a. "The Fine Print")

Email Reference

Responses to email questions generally will be sent within three working days.

Email reference is best suited to questions requiring short, factual answers. For example, we can:

verify bibliographic citation information;
look up addresses and/or phone numbers of companies, institutions, associations, or government entities;
or locate factual information, such as census data or biographical information.

We may not be able to answer all reference questions via email. For more complex reference questions, please consult an OSU subject specialist librarian.

Finding Books, etc.

To discover whether the OSU Library has a particular book, magazine or journal title, please search the online catalog. The OSU Library Catalog QuickGuide is a good resource when using the library catalog. The Full-Text Periodical Titles list allows you to find journals the OSU Library has available online.

To Request Materials Via Interlibrary Loan:

OSU students, faculty, or staff members should use the online ILL system.
If you are not affiliated with OSU and wish to request OSU Library materials, you should contact your local library.
