Garner's Gift Makes New Book Possible
Story orginally ran in FY2006 Annual Report
Joe Garner knows a little bit about the OSU Library. “The year I began school was the year the Edmon Low Library opened,” he said.
Joe is in the group of alumni who have connections to both OAMC and OSU. He graduated from OAMC in 1956 with a BS in secondary education. He then earned an MS in secondary education from OSU in 1957. “My family has been involved with A&M and OSU since the 1920s,” he said.
With a gracious gift, Joe has underwritten a project that will enable the Library’s Special Collections and University Archives to publish a new book titled “The Campus of OAMC.” It is scheduled for release in Summer 2007, fifty years after OAMC changed its name to Oklahoma State University.
“ The Campus of OAMC” will be primarily pictorial showcasing photos from the University Archives. It will use detailed maps and building blueprints from the 1890s through 1957 to highlight the changes in campus.
According to Joe, “I asked the Library if there was a project they would like help with and this was one of them. I said it sounded great.”
Generous donations like Joe’s make special endeavors such as this one possible.
