Companion Endowment

Raybourns, Baughers & Close Fill Landscaping Wish

The Need

At OSU, Endowed Chairs and Professorships are established in academic areas that contribute to the enhancement of the overall cultural, business, scientific, and/or economic development of Oklahoma. It is our hope that a Companion Library Collection Endowment can be established to support each of OSU’s Endowed Chairs and Professorships.

As an integral part of a research-intensive land grant institution, the Library works to meet the demands for new research level books, journals and data. The Library must possess a steady and permanent source of funding in order to respond quickly to these needs. Endowed funds provide ongoing support for the acquisition of books and other materials resulting in collections that are broader, deeper and more up-to-date than otherwise possible.

The Opportunity

Endowments may be established with a minimum gift of $10,000 and must be fully funded within 5 years. These funds are invested and earn interest in perpetuity.

The Companion Library Collection Endowment’s name may be tied to the name of the Professorship or Chair. For example: The John Jones Library Collection Endowment in support of the Jones Family Endowed Chair in Chemical Engineering. A custom bookplate will be placed in books purchased with Endowment funds. Additionally, the online catalog will indicate that the book, journal, database or other material was purchased with funds from the Endowment and will be searchable by the Endowment’s name.

The Companion Library Collection Endowments align with the OSU Strategic Goal to provide a stimulating, responsive, and effective environment for student learning, and academic achievement. This project also directly supports the University’s strategic themes of
