Student Success Center
The Golden Circle of Friends 50th Anniversary Endowment will stand as a lasting tribute to the Friends of the OSU Library and the Edmon Low Library's 50th Anniversary.

The Need

The needs of today’s students and researchers are quickly and dramatically changing, and the Library plans to embrace this opportunity to evolve our services to meet these needs. The centerpiece of the Library’s bold plan for the 21st century, the Student Success Center, will provide a stimulating, responsive, and effective environment for student learning and academic achievement.

The Student Success Center will be located on the first floor of the Library and offer 24-hour access to computers, circulation/reserve/interlibrary loan departments, group study rooms, and space for individual study. The funds for this project will provide extensive renovation and refurbishment for the first floor of the Library including electrical upgrades, new furniture appropriate for use with computers and collaborative work, small enclosed group study rooms, an improved circulation and general reference desk, a small video and film viewing room, and a classroom for library instruction.

The Opportunity

A gift of $2,000,000 will make this project possible. Total funds spent on the renovation and furnishing of this area will not exceed $1,500,000. The remaining $500,000 will be endowed for the continuing upkeep and maintenance of the Student Success Center so that it will always reflect positively on the donor and the University.

The Student Success Center aligns with the OSU Strategic Goal to provide a stimulating, responsive, and effective environment for student learning, and academic achievement.

This project directly supports the University’s strategic theme of Academic Instruction by

  • supporting collaborative learning experiences,
  • outfitting the Library to better meet diverse learning needs,
  • providing access to resources necessary for students to reach their full potential,
  • offering rich educational opportunities and support services that promote academic success.
