These guides include basic explanations and examples of two major bibliographic styles used to cite sources in a research paper or project: American Psychological Association (APA) Style and Modern Language Association (MLA) Style.
Consult your instructor on which style you should use in a particular class, but in general, APA is used in social science courses and MLA in English and humanities courses. There are also other styles such as Chicago Manual of Style, Turabian Style, American Chemical Society (ACS) Style, and others. Consult a reference librarian at the 1st floor reference desk for help finding reference books on these styles or for further information on APA or MLA Style.
NOTE: In addition to these guides, the OSU Library also has software available to make handling your citations easier. Check out the EndNote and Reference Manager information page for more information and downloading instructions.
