Science Cafe Investigates Forensic Psychology

This month's program takes a look at forensic psychology and features Ron Thrasher, the director of the forensic psychology program at OSU Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa, and Chelsea Bullard, a doctorate student in sociology who also holds a master's degree in forensic psychology.

The Friends of the OSU Library honor longtime supporter

Whereas, Carol Stringer was a valued friend and lifelong supporter of Oklahoma State University and the OSU Libraries; and Whereas, Carol, and her husband Dean, were the first donors to endow one of the first floor study rooms in the Edmon Low Library; and Whereas, Carol’s legacy includes her devotion to family, a special grace and beauty and innate kindness; and Whereas, September 20, 2015, marks the 81st anniversary of Carol Stringer’s birth, the Friends of the OSU Library do hereby proclaim September 20, 2015, as “Carol Stringer Day.”

Sherlock Holmes Investigated

Community partners present series

Stillwater Public Library, OSU Allied Arts, OSULibrary and Stillwater Police Department are partnering on a month-long series about the world’s most famous detective. “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” features presentations, performances and other detective-related activities, culminating in a theatrical production by the Aquila Theatre Company at the OSU Seretean Center on Oct. 29.

Come one, come all to the new Edmon Low Creative Studios for “Tech Tuesday at 2.” The events take place on the first Tuesday of September, October and November. These monthly presentations are an interactive showcase of emerging and innovative technologies.

Five-hundred Years of Latino Americans in North America

A three-part PBS documentary brought to the community by the OSU Library

The series of three events based on a PBS documentary will be shown throughout National Hispanic Heritage Month. “With the help of this grant, we want to educate people on the history of Hispanics and Latinos in Oklahoma,” Victor Baeza said. “As part of this, we are working with the OSU Alumni Association to research the first Hispanic graduate from Oklahoma State University.”

Creative Studios Launch at the Edmon Low!

A plethora of new creative tools have arrived at the Library! At the Edmon Low Creative Studio, located in Room 105, students now have access to a suite of hardware and software including iMacs and Windows PCs featuring the full Adobe Creative Suite, as well as a presentation/recording studio where students can sharpen presentation skills and even host professional conference calls. Free 3D printing services will even be offered by the 3D Creative Studio sponsored by the OSU Library and School of Entrepreneurship later in the year! What’s not to love?

Nominate for "Cowboys in Every County"

Oral history project documents diversity of OSU alumni

“Cowboys in Every County” aims to record an interview with at least one OSU graduate in every Oklahoma county. The OOHRP is seeking nominations for alumni residing in Oklahoma who have individual stories that reflect the breath and diversity of the state’s history through OSU’s legacy.

Science Cafe Returns with "Nature vs. Nature"

This month's program features a screening of “Nature vs. Nature: The Animal Victims of the May 2013 Tornadoes” followed by Q&A with Jenifer Reynolds, producer of the documentary and co-host of “Discover Oklahoma;" Jean Sander, Dean of the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences; Todd Holbrook, Equine Medicine Specialist at the CVHS; and Jill Murray, Exotic Animal Technician at the CVHS.
