Director of Library Graduate & Research Services

The OSU Library recently established a new position, Director of Library Graduate and Research Services. It was filled this month by Victor Baeza. He is responsible for developing and managing library programs to support graduate students and faculty research. Victor’s duties include coordinating activities to assist new faculty members in utilizing library resources in their own research and in integrating library resources into their teaching plans. He will organize library efforts to inform faculty and graduate students about developments in scholarly communications and provide workshops and other services regarding applicable copyright and intellectual property law.

You can contact Victor Baeza at 405-744-1241 or victor.baeza@okstate.edu.

Oklahoma Women's Almanac

The Oklahoma Women's Almanac is edited by R. Darcy, Regents Professor of Political Science & Statistics, and Jennifer Paustenbaugh, Associate Dean of the OSU Libraries, Puterbaugh Professor of Library Service and Director of the Women's Archives at OSU. A team of thirty scholars, experts and students worked two years to complete the project. The result is a comprehensive portrait of the accomplishments of Oklahoma women and a detailed presentation of the situation of Oklahoma women in comparison to those of the other states.

The book is a project of the Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women and the Women's Archive at Oklahoma State University. It is the first comprehensive reference work on women of Oklahoma.

The soft cover book (544 + xx pages) is available for $24.95 plus shipping. Visit http://almanac.okstate.edu to order. All proceeds from sales will go to the publication projects of the Women’s Archives at Oklahoma State University.

Arts & Humanities Citation Index: 1975 forward

The OSU Library has purchased the remaining segment of the Arts & Humanities Citation Index® backfile. Our subscription now includes the entire collection, from 1975 forward. The Arts & Humanities Citation Index® provides access to current and retrospective bibliographic information and cited references found in nearly 1,130 of the world's leading arts & humanities journals. They also cover individually selected, relevant items from approximately 7,000 of the world's leading science and social sciences journals. You can access the Arts & Humanities Citation Index® through our Indexes and Databases list at http://www.library.okstate.edu/database/index.htm.

Trial for New WorldCat Results Format

WorldCat has a new format for search results. There will be a two week trial of the new format starting March 13. Users performing a search during the trial will receive “clustered” results. Instead of seeing several results, one for each format of a title i.e. book, paperback, DVD, etc., users will receive a single entry with all the formats “clustered” in one result per title. Information on various formats is still available in the record, but “clustering” should make easier for user to find the title they are seeking.

You can access WorldCat via the Library's Indexes and Databases list.
