Celebrating Books by OSU Authors
Join us on February 17 from 11:30-1:30 p.m. for the third annual "Celebrating Books by OSU Authors." The reception honors OSU faculty, emeriti, staff and students who have authored, co-authored or edited a book or who have published creative works such as musical compositions, art exhibit catalogs or audio recordings. Guests will have the opportunity to talk to authors, and several books and CDs by honorees will be for sale.
The purpose of "Celebrating Books by OSU Authors" is to recognize and honor these individuals' achievements, encourage academic dialogue and ensure that works by OSU authors are available to the University community by adding these pieces to the OSU Library's collection. This year's event will spotlight books and creative works published in 2007 and 2008. If your work falls into this category, submit the form at www.library.okstate.edu/forms/authors.htm. We will add you to the list of honorees.

New Features in BOSS
BOSS, the Big Orange Search System, has added two new features to expand searching capacity: article searching through BOSS and OSU System-wide searching.
Article Searching
Enter a keyword in the BOSS search box and the system will search not only the main collection, but also select online databases. Initially, the article results are pulled from 15 general purpose databases. Results are summarized in a gray bar at the top of the results list. You can customize the search to cover any number of the 130 resources currently configured for BOSS, just click on "change database selection" in the gray bar.
System-wide Search
BOSS also now has the option to search libraries at branch campuses, or the entire OSU system. Select which campus(es) you would like to search in the "select location" drop-down menu on the right. If you find an item at another campus, you can request it by selecting your campus in the "send this book to my campus library" menu on the right side of the item's record. This link will redirect you to a request form, already populated with the item's information.
Custom Training for Faculty and Graduate Students
Victor Baeza, Director of Library Graduate and Research Services, is responsible for developing and managing library programs to support graduate students and faculty research. Victor's duties include coordinating activities to assist faculty members in utilizing library resources in their own research and in integrating library resources into their teaching plans.
Another service Victor provides is personalized EndNote training. Several sessions are held at the Library each semester (see http://www.library.okstate.edu/bibmanager/ for dates and times). Victor will also do customized on-demand training for any size group. To arrange training, contact Victor Baeza at 405-744-1241 or victor.baeza@okstate.edu.
