Celebrating Books by OSU Authors
On January 31, 2008, the OSU Library will host the second annual “Celebrating Books by OSU Authors.” The event honors OSU faculty, emeriti and staff who have authored, co-authored or edited a book or who have published creative works such as musical compositions, art exhibit catalogs or audio recordings.
The purpose of “Celebrating Books by OSU Authors” is to recognize and honor these individuals’ achievements, encourage academic dialogue, and ensure that works by OSU authors are available to the University community by adding these pieces to the OSU Library’s collection. This year’s event will spotlight books and creative works published in 2006 and 2007; if your work falls into this category, please let us know. We want to include you in the 2008 event.
To participate, authors are asked to submit the form, available at www.library.okstate.edu/forms/authors.htm, and a signed copy of their work to 216 Library. The item will be added to the Library’s Special Collections. If authors are interested in selling copies of their work at the reception, they may provide the copies to be sold and Library staff will assist with sales.
Oklahoma Centennial Endowment
The OSU Library is creating the Oklahoma Centennial Collection Endowment. The endowment will provide annual funds to acquire materials with an Oklahoma theme or by an Oklahoma author. These materials may include books, maps, photos, paintings, diaries, reports, databases or archives about Oklahoma.
Funds from this endowment will also provide support to conduct, transcribe and preserve oral history interviews with notable Oklahomans from all walks of life. One goal for 2007 is to establish the endowment with 100 gifts of $100 each. You can help preserve Oklahoma scholarship and history by becoming a founding member of the Oklahoma Centennial Endowment. Tell Your Students: Document Delivery
Many students first discover Library resources and services because a professor brought it to their attention. This month we encourage you to tell your students about our document delivery service.
Whether you are home for the weekend, spending a semester abroad, or are just across campus and don’t feel like coming by, the OSU Library will send any print article or book chapter we own directly to your computer.
Fill out a request online, and within 2 days you will receive an email with a link to the article or chapter. If you requested an entire book, you will receive an email when it is available to be picked up. Try it at http://www.library.okstate.edu/access/ils/documentdelivery.htm.
If you do not wish to receive future Library Updates, please send a message to bonnie.cain@okstate.edu with the subject line: remove.
