Peggy V. Helmerich Browsing Room Reopens
September 21, 2006
For Immediate Release
STILLWATER - The Peggy V. Helmerich Browsing Room in the Edmon Low Library reopens for study and events after construction closed the room for the summer and early fall.
The room is available for quiet study during the weekday, when it is not booked for events. The new hours of operation for the room are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“The Browsing Room is a special area of the library," said Sheila Grant Johnson, Dean of Libraries."We are in the process of renewing the room. We have reupholstered the furniture, and soon we will begin recarpeting. These updates along with the change in hours are ways we are working to ensure the room and the library reflect well on the University and our students during special events.”
The room is furnished and maintained with funds from the Peggy V. Helmerich Endowment. The purpose of the room is to provide an elegant space appropriate for the many cultural and academic events hosted by the OSU Library.
Patrons can assist efforts to maintain the space by leaving furniture in its current location, taking care with food and drinks, using lids on cups and reporting any spills quickly, leaving feet off the furniture and walls, and placing trash in the receptacles.
The carpeting project is tentatively planned for late fall. Check the calendar of events at www.library.okstate.edu for information on upcoming events and projects that may affect the Peggy V. Helmerich Browsing Room hours.
