NEWS RELEASE
OAMC Book Coming Summer 2007
November 17, 2006
For Immediate Release
STILLWATER - "The Campus of OAMC" will give readers a look back in time at Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, before its name was changed to Oklahoma State University.
"The book deals exclusively with the OAMC years," said David Peters, Coordinator of Library Special Collections and the book’s author. "It will highlight the initial formation of the college until its transformation into a university."
The book will be primarily pictorial and will showcase historic photographs of the OAMC campus from 1891 to 1957. It will make use of detailed maps to show the layout of the campus then in relation to the existing campus.
"The purpose of the book is to allow alumni to look back on places that have special memories for them," Peters said.
"The Campus of OAMC" is scheduled to be released late in summer 2007. The release date will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the name change to OSU, as well as the centennial celebration of the State of Oklahoma.
