STILLWATER -The OSU Library recognized the exceptional contributions of four student workers with the Class of 1942/Willham Scholarship. The 2009 winners are Tessa Brawley, Andrea Hiler, Lydia Meador and Gina Taylor.
The Class of 1942/Willham Scholarship was established May 28, 1992 by the Class of 1942 to honor OAMC President Oliver S. Willham. It is intended to assist outstanding student employees of the OSU Library and to encourage further excellence for all students of Oklahoma State University. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership and financial need.
"I would like to thank those responsible for offering this scholarship to assist student employees,” said Taylor, an architecture and architectural engineering junior, from Ponca City. “I greatly appreciate their support in my educational pursuits."
Two of the winners are chosen to serve as student representatives on the OSU Friends of the Library Board of Directors. The 2009 student representatives are Meador and Taylor.
"Winning this award has helped alleviate some financial stress and will allow me to spend more time working on school rather than worrying about paying bills," said Meador, a botany and microbiology sophomore from Broken Arrow.
