STILLWATER -After three years of secrecy, the benefactor behind the transformational renovation of the Edmon Low Library’s Reading Room was revealed. The room was dedicated the Anne Morris Greenwood Reading Room at a public ceremony.
Michael Greenwood, of Stillwater, named the room in honor of his wife as a surprise gift to her.
“The Library is important to the University and to every student here. We want its interior to match the majesty of its exterior,” Greenwood said.
Dean of Libraries Sheila Johnson said the renovation was nothing short of amazing. Changes included upgrading the lighting, increasing the electrical capacity and replacing furniture, paint and carpet.
Greenwood said he hopes this gift serves as inspiration to other donors.“There are still many areas of the Library that need help. I hope others will look at what we accomplished with this room and want to do the same,” he said.

Kirk Jewell, Gary Clark, Anne and Michael Greenwood and Sheila Johnson lead the way as Friends of the OSU Library, Library faculty and staff, and other guests tour one of the most popular areas of the Edmon Low Library. The newly dedicated Anne Morris Greenwood Reading Room was renovated with the needs of students in mind.
Dean of Libraries Sheila Johnson unveiled the room to the surprise of namesake Anne Greenwood. Although a member of the committee overseeing the renovation, Greenwood had no idea her husband was the secret benefactor.
