For Immediate Release
STILLWATER -The Library has purchased 20 new Macbook Pros for students to check out.
Students spoke and the Library answered. Staff received numerous requests for Macs to be made available. The purchase of the MacBooks was largely in response to student feedback.
When asked about the benefits of using the new MacBooks, laptop manager Jon Hall said, “If you are used to a PC then getting adjusted to a Mac may take some effort. Using the MacBooks however, is more than worth it. They are extremely fast and responsive. The 17” HD LCD screens allow for unbelievable graphics and enough space to accommodate several open windows at once.”
The MacBooks come loaded with Microsoft Office, as well as popular Apple standards, such as GarageBand, iPhoto, iMovie and Facetime.
In addition to the 20 new MacBooks, the Library also has 30 iPads and 160 Dell laptops available for student use. All of these machines can be checked out at the circulation desk. Loan periods are five hours, and can be renewed once unless there is a waiting list. MacBooks, iPads and laptops can be taken anywhere on or off campus, but cannot be kept overnight.
