Mortar Board Presents OSU Library with Donation
February 26, 2008
For Immediate Release
STILLWATER -Mortar Board is donating $5,000 to the OSU Library to benefit students. The money will be used for the Library’s textbook initiative.
The Library and Mortar Board have an interesting connection. Elsie Denton Hand, head librarian from 1921-1933, was the founding adviser of OSU’s Achafoa chapter of Mortar Board.
“When we decided to donate the money to the Library, we were really excited about the tie between Elsie Denton Hand and the OSU Library,” said Sara-Jane Smallwood, Mortar Board’s calendar editor.
The formal presentation of the gift will be Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 2:30–3:30 p.m. at a reception in the Peggy V. Helmerich Browsing Room in the Edmon Low Library.
The reception is part of Mortar Board’s Get On Board Week activities. Applications for Mortar Board will be available throughout this week.
