STILLWATER -The OSU Library has expanded the number of textbooks available for check out to students for the fourth semester in a row.
This spring, required textbooks for classes of 125 or more students, or costing $125 or more were added to the Library’s collection. Purchases were financed by a gift from Mortar Board.
The textbooks are on two-hour reserve and available to be checked out.
The project was introduced in the fall 2006 semester, providing books for classes with 250 students or more enrolled, or a book price of $250 or more. Each semester the project has expanded by lowering the price of textbooks and enrollment accepted.
"We want students to be able to check out a textbook and do their day’s reading for a class, or maybe check it out twice and do the reading they need for their next class and be done with it then,” said Richard Paustenbaugh, Associate Dean of Libraries for Research and Instruction Services. “We want it to be available to as many students in each class as possible, and two-hour reserve is a way we thought would increase the availability to more students."
