Partnership Proposes Library Services for Practicing Veterinarians

STILLWATER -The American Veterinary Medical Association Library (AVMA Library), the National Agricultural Library (NAL), the National Library of Medicine (NLM), and the United States Agricultural Information Network (USAIN) have teamed up to explore the development of a Web portal for veterinary practitioners in clinical settings who may have limited access to information resources and library services. This partnership is seeking practicing veterinarians who will be attending the 2007 AVMA Annual Convention in Washington, D.C., and are willing to participate in focus groups aimed at gathering more information to drive the project.
“Practicing clinicians may be unaware of the resources and services available to them,” explains Heather K. Moberly, Associate Professor at OSU’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences’ William E. Brock Memorial Library and president of USAIN. “The focus groups will allow us to explore participants’ experiences of needing and seeking information and to gather feedback on a prototype of the site.”
The focus groups will be held in conjunction with the AVMA’s Annual Convention which is scheduled in July 2007 in Washington, D.C. One-hour sessions will be scheduled on Sunday, July 15, at the Renaissance Washington, D.C. Hotel.
