About Us
The Oklahoma Oral History Research Program (OOHRP) focuses on preserving and sharing individual and community histories connected to Oklahoma and OSU. The OOHRP leads oral history projects and partners with communities to support locally driven work. Its growing archive includes interviews from both OOHRP-led and collaborative projects.
Featured Work
The Chilocco Indian Agricultural School Oral History Collection documents the experiences of former students who attended Chilocco in north central Oklahoma. The collection was created through a partnership between the Chilocco National Alumni Association and the Oklahoma Oral History Research Program at the Oklahoma State University Library. It includes oral history interviews with alumni and digitized photographs from campus life and community events.
The Pete's Pet Posse Oral History Collection documents the development and growth of Oklahoma State University's pet therapy program since its founding in 2013. The collection features interviews with handlers, staff, and students involved in building and sustaining the program. These oral histories reflect how trained therapy animals and their handlers support well-being and connection across campus.
The "Big Top" Show Goes On Oral History Collection documents the work culture and traditions of the tent-circus community in Hugo, Oklahoma, long known as "Circus City USA." The collection features interviews with performers, craftspeople, laborers, and community members whose work supports the American big-top circus. These oral histories highlight the interconnected roles required to put on a show and the long-standing relationship between the circus and the town of Hugo.
