Debbie Blackburn was interviewed May 23, 2008 as part of the Women of the Oklahoma Legislature Oral History Project. Mrs. Blackburn was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1994 and served through 2006. She represented House District 88 and was a member of the Democratic Party. Mrs. Blackburn shares a few details regarding her decision to run for the legislature, about campaigning, promoting bills, and term limits. She also talks about studying Oklahoma’s water usage and offers advice for women considering running for the legislature.
