The Edmon Low Library has an opening for an intern to work approximately 12 hours per week during the fall semester. Hours will be scheduled Monday-Friday between 8 am and 5 pm.
Employment as an intern is on a semester by semester basis. Continued employment is contingent on funding and performance.
Under the supervision of the Interim Head of Special Collections and University Archives , the intern will continue the processing of approximately 750 loose botanical drawings in the Bellamy Parks Jansen Collection. Tasks will include (1) matching genus/species identification labels with the botanical drawings; (2) creating basic metadata for each drawing; and (3) performing the scanning of the drawings for later presentation in CONTENTdm. The intern would be responsible for systematically providing batches of drawings to be scanned and performing quality control checks on the scanning.
MUST BE ENROLLED AT LEAST PART-TIME (6 HOURS UNDERGRADUATE/ 4 HOURS GRADUATE). GRADUATE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THESIS HOURS WILL ALSO BE CONSIDERED.
