Veterinary Health Sciences Library

The Veterinary Medicine branch of the OSU Libraries has an opening for a student assistant to work 8-12 hours per week.

Required:

  • Must be able to work some mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Special Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to conceptualize, draw conclusions, and make decisions based on information provided.
  • Must be able to work with and communicate effectively with the public in person and via telephone.
  • Must have good organizational and reading skills.
  • Must be able to push a book cart weight up to 50 lbs. and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • General computer literacy, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desired:

  • HTML experience
  • Library experience

Responsibilities:

  • Work at reference and circulation desk
  • Assist patrons to identify and locate materials
  • Shelve books and audiovisual materials
  • Process Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery requests
  • Complete special projects as assigned

MUST BE ENROLLED AT LEAST PART-TIME (6 HOURS UNDERGRADUATE/ 4 HOURS GRADUATE).  GRADUATE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THESIS HOURS WILL ALSO BE CONSIDERED.

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS & UNIVERSITY ARCHIVES

STUDENT ASSISTANT I

Responsibilities: This position may involve several activities, including processing theses to be sent to the new Library Auxiliary Building, scanning in photographs, processing archival collections, working on the Special Collections and University Archives reference desk, and entering data into our archival management software. Other duties as needed.

Qualifications: 

Required: Ability to follow instructions, maintain accuracy, and pay attention to details; excellent communication and inter-personal skills. Basic familiarity with PCs, especially some experience using Microsoft Office and Excel, and the ability to lift as much as 40 pounds.

Desired: experience with scanning equipment, Adobe Photoshop, data entry experience

Hours:  Work is scheduled between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Rate of Pay: $8.75/hr

Security


The OSU Library has an opening for a Security Student Assistant. The student assistant works in conjunction with the Security Coordinator.

Hours:

  • Minimum 10 hours
  • During Library Hours of Operation

Responsibilities:

The security assistant is responsible for the security of the building, handling building emergencies, interpreting library policy to patrons or staff, opening and closing of the building and patrolling the building to ensure patrons are in compliance with the library’s rules of conduct (which may also include moving some furniture). The security assistant will be required to attend various meetings and training sessions. In addition, the Security Student Assistant monitors patrons entering and exiting the building.

Must have personal phone and be willing to receive calls regarding job schedules and duties. Must change work schedule as necessary and carry a security cell phone while on duty.

Requirements:

  • Must have at least two full semester of experience at OSU Stillwater
  • Must be able to work some weekend hours as well as morning opening shifts
  • Must be able to work over 10 hours if needed
