STUDENT ASSISTANT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Edmon Low Library has an opening for a student assistant to work approximately 10-12 hours per week for the Spring 2015 semester. Continued employment through Fall 2015 is possible. Hours will be scheduled 8-5, Monday-Friday.

 Rate of Pay: $10.50 per hour

Responsibilities includeTranscribe oral history interview recordings (including proofreading). This process includes listening to an audio recording and typing a verbatim Microsoft Word document of the interview. A secondary responsibility is audit checking. This process includes listening to an audio recording and reviewing the transcript text for accuracy, grammar, and sentence structure. In some cases, research to find correct names/dates/places will be needed. Additional duties include audio/video editing, scanning, filing, and/or inputting data into Microsoft Excel. All hours will be scheduled between 8 a.m-5 p.m., Monday–Friday. Graduate students are encouraged to apply but all qualified applicants will be considered.

Required:

  • Excellent command of English language demonstrated by strong aural, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word
  • Keyboarding skills and ability to pass a typing exercise

Desired:

  • Familiarity with Oklahoma history and places
  • Editing experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with digital audio or video

MUST EITHER BE ENROLLED IN SUMMER CLASSES OR REGISTERED FOR FALL AS AT LEAST PART-TIME (6 HOURS UNDERGRADUATE/ 4 HOURS GRADUATE).  GRADUATE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THESIS HOURS WILL ALSO BE CONSIDERED.
