STUDENT ASSISTANT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Edmon Low Library has an opening for a Student Assistant I position at the Circulation and Information Desk.  Circulation Student Assistants (SAIs) work primarily at the Circulation / Information Desk and perform circulation and basic reference duties. The student assistant works under the Circulation Coordinator. 

Hours:
This position normally requires working 10-20 hours per week during the Spring semester. Hours will include weekends, early mornings and/or late nights (9:00 pm – 2:00 am), some miscellaneous daytime or early evening hours, and some holidays (holiday hours are voluntary when possible).

Responsibilities:

  • Checking out and discharging library material, including recalled and inter-library loan items, laptops and peripherals.
  • Recalling books for patrons.
  • Providing assistance to patrons with basic informational questions. Answering patron questions concerning directions and library policy (if known).
  • Replacing paper and toner in public printers.
  • Troubleshooting basic problems with public computers and printers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to get along with others and work as part of a team with good organizational and reading skills including a strong attention to detail.
  • Dependable/reliability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift items up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to push a book cart weight up to 120 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Library experience, including understanding of the Dewey Decimal system
  • College research experience

Pay Rate:  $8.75 /Hour
