Articles, correspondence, notes, and sources for historical research of O. A. Hilton. The collection contains documents relating to both world wars and U.S. social and military issues, Dr. Hilton's manuscripts, notes, and publications. Primary sources in the collection include propaganda from the Axis and Allies, and newspaper articles and magazines from the 1910s to 1960s.

O. A. Hilton (1900- ) received his B. S. from Southwest Missouri State College in 1925, his M. Ph., 1926, and Ph. D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1929. He served as Professor of History at Okla. A. & M. from 1929 to 1966 and taught U.S. Military, Economic, and European History and helped develop the Western Civilization course. During World War II, Dr. Hilton was absent on military leave in 1941, and was at the War Department in Washington D.C. where he recorded his personal thoughts about U.S. involvement in the War shortly before the Attack on Pearl Harbor. In 1945 he became the Chairman of U. S. History and Government at Okla. A. & M. until his retirement in 1966, when he received the title Emeritus Professor and served as visiting professor at Tulsa University 1966-1967.
