Oklahoma Audio Almanac

NOTE: On November 1, 2014, this site will be taken down. All of the Oklahoma Audio Almanac broadcasts can be found at its new website. Please update your bookmarks.

"Hello, I'm Steven Knoche Kite, welcoming you to the Oklahoma Audio Almanac, where we turn back the pages of history to bring you the stories of our State's past."

Every Wednesday morning for 4 years, this greeting was followed by a brief look at one or more historically important events occurring during that week in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Audio Almanac was heard on KOSU, Oklahoma's Public Radio, Wednesdays at 7:30am and 3:30pm between May 31, 2000 and May 26, 2004.

Here you will find a searchable archive of the Oklahoma Audio Almanac. The Almanac encompasses broadcast audio files, transcripts, supporting historian's notes and related resources.

The Oklahoma Audio Almanac archives can be accessed in two ways:

  • Search the Almanacs for terms of interest to you. The search box appears on each Almanac page.
  • Browse through the archive. Links to the archive appear on each Almanac page.

The Oklahoma Audio Almanac was produced jointly by Steven Knoche Kite (an History Ph.D. student in the OSU Library's Special Collections & University Archives) and Kelly Burley (News Director at KOSU, Oklahoma's Public Radio).
