Reference librarians at OSU are here to offer assistance with your general and research questions. Our services are available during scheduled hours. In addition, you may Chat with us, EMAIL or Instant Message (IM) us. During scheduled hours, reference assistance is available at the service points listed below. If you aren’t certain where to start, begin at the General Reference Desk on 1st floor, Edmon Low Library (Main Library).
General Reference Desk: This is your starting point in the library for all types of questions. The General Reference Desk is staffed by librarians from the Science and Engineering Division and Humanities and Social Sciences Division.
Documents Reference Desk: Librarians at this desk provide help locating and using federal, state and international government information. This desk is staffed by librarians from the Documents Department.
Digital Library Services: Librarians in this office assist people who cannot come to the Library. Digital Library Services offers reference assistance as well as help connecting to the Library’s electronic resources from off-campus.
Special Collections/University Archives: Rare and historical OSU and Oklahoma books and manuscripts. Also holds many special collections, both state and national in scope, including the Women's Archives at OSU.
Patents and Trademark Library: This library is located within the Documents Department. Patents librarians offer assistance with patents, trademarks and copyright questions. Calling first for an appointment is highly recommended. BRANCH LIBRARIESLocated outside of the Edmon Low Library, these are mainly professional collections intended to support the teaching and research mission of their respective schools. They are open to the public during scheduled hours.
Veterinary Medicine Library: Provides reference services and a subject-focused collection of print, multimedia, and electronic resources. Although designed to primarily support the teaching and research needs of the College of Veterinary Medicine, this library is open to both the OSU community at large and general public.
Mary L. Williams Curriculum Materials Library (CML): Provides help primarily for students and faculty in the teacher preparation areas in the College of Education and in the College of Human Environmental Sciences.
John Rex Cunningham Architecture Library: Primarily serves the students and
faculty of the School of Architecture. Other frequent users include the departments
of Landscape Architecture, Housing, Interior Design, Art, Theater and History. ADDITIONAL SERVICE POINTS
Circulation and Reserves Desk: Stop here to check out, renew, recall or return books. This is where your teachers place reserve materials like tests or reading files and you can pick up books borrowed for you through Interlibrary Loan. Students and Staff at this desk can also answer general questions about the building and the collection.
Map Room: Offers print and digital maps including those from the U. S. Government, Census Bureau and aerial photographs of Oklahoma counties. Library GIS services are located in the Map Room.
Room 105 (Microform & Media Room): Room 105 (A.K.A. the Microform & Media Room) houses books, journals, and newspapers in microformat. In addition, people working here can help you find videos, dvds, cd roms, and information in other formats not available on the web.
InterLibrary Services: If you need it, and the OSU Library doesn’t own it, the people working in this office can find another library which does and borrow it for you. We can get books, articles, and other materials to help you complete a research project, write a paper, or just read a good book.
Electronic Publishing Center: The Electronic Publishing Center digitizes materials that are related to Oklahoma, and makes the searchable, full-text versions freely available online. Projects include Kappler's Indian Affairs, The Proceedings of the Oklahoma Academy of Science, Chronicles of Oklahoma, and the Speeches of OSU alum Boone Pickens.
