Stop 1 -- Reference Desk
Librarians and graduate student assistants are available at the General Reference Desk to answer your questions 80-90% of the time that the library is open. They can help you find information, whether it is for a specific project or a general interest. In addition, they can teach you to use the library catalog and other databases effectively and how to locate materials within the library.

Stop 2 -- Circulation & Reserves Desk
This is the Circulation & Reserves Desk. This is where you can borrow books and other materials, reserve a study room, or borrow a laptop computer. The OSU Library has a large number of laptops available for checkout, and the entire building is covered by our WiFi network. If your professor says they've put something "on reserve at the library," this is where you'd find it. You'll need to have your OSU ID card with you, since it's your library card.

Stop 3 -- Interlibrary Services
Interlibrary Services, also known as ILS, is your one-stop spot for borrowing materials that the OSU library does not own -- a service called "Interlibrary Loan." While the Interlibrary Loan request forms are available online, you can drop by the ILS office and someone will be glad to assist you. You may request articles from journals that the library does not subscribe to, or entire books, theses, technical reports, etc.

Stop 4 -- Materials Found on the First Floor
Three types of materials are shelved on the west end of the First Floor: the reference collection, the current periodicals and the New Books shelf. If you have difficulty locating an item in this area, please ask at the reference desk.
Current journals and magazines are arranged in alphabetical order by the title. Note: abbreviations are always found at the beginning of the letter with which they start; i.e.: all the IEEE are at the start of the I's, not after the items beginning with "Id-". Periodicals in this area are the most recent issues that the library has received. The library catalog will list which issues should be shelved in the Current Periodicals.

Stop 6 -- Group Study Rooms
There are currently three group study rooms on the First Floor (three more are planned) that can be reserved at the Circulation & Reserves Desk. These rooms provide an ideal setting for working on group projects. The rooms have conference tables and chairs and dry erase boards (marker and eraser are checked out with the key). The two larger rooms accommodate twelve users; the smaller room accommodates eight. And, of course, the OSU Library's WiFi network is available throughout the building!

To aid in your library research, a set of computers specifically for accessing the library's catalog and databases is next to the reference desk. For assistance using the library's resources, just ask at the reference desk to the west of the computers. This area is available during all open hours of the Library.
