A variety of freely available and population-specific computers are available in the Brock Memorial Library. The following descriptions will aid you in determining which type of computer will best meet your needs when visiting the Library. Printing is available from most computers.
There are two types of public computer stations freely available for use:
There are five computer stations available for use exclusively by current OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences Students -- use of these workstations by others is prohibited. These stations are located on the Mezzanine of the Brock Memorial Library. These stations provide access to the Internet, programs such as Microsoft Office®, hard-drive, floppy drive, CD-Drive, USB Drive and Center for Veterinary Health Sciences I: drive.
One Adaptive Technology Station is available on First Floor for those requiring the assistance of a screen reader or other adaptive technologies. The Brock Memorial Library does not provide training or support for this computer station - please contact the Technology Resources Department at the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences.
WiFi wireless Internet access is available for current OSU Faculty, Staff, and Students from a variety of locations at OSU including the Brock Memorial Library. A map of wireless areas on the OSU Stillwater Campus is available from the IT website.
You must supply your own personal wireless device (e.g. laptops, tablet pcs, handheld palm os and microsoft pocket pc os devices) and an 802.11b or higher wireless card or built-in wireless. The OSU IT Department instructions state that you should set your wireless device SSID to OSUWIRELESS and leave other options as default. You will be prompted to login with your O-Key information when you open your web browser. Alternately, if you have registered your laptop with the university you may set your SSID to OSUREGISTERED. You do not need to login to each session when using OSUREGISTERED.
A library owned wireless laptop and peripheral components is available for 5-hour loan to current OSU Faculty, Staff, and Students.
Plugging a personal device (e.g. laptop) into the computer network in the Brock Memorial Library is prohibited by the Technology Resources Department of the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences.
